On July 14, 2024, the final day of the European Modern Pentathlon Championships in Budapest, I stood on the top of the podium with Rita Erdős by my side — achieving something every athlete dreams of: winning gold on home soil, in front of a home crowd.

The course of the competition

Nine teams competed in the mixed relay event. We finished in seventh place in fencing and show jumping, which wasn’t exactly the ideal start. However, in the swimming segment, we won the 2×100 meter relay, which gave us a major boost.

During the combined event — a mix of running and shooting — we managed to keep improving our position. Step by step, we fought our way to the top, and in the end, we took the gold medal.

The significance of this gold

This gold medal holds a special place in my heart, because I achieved it in front of a home crowd — with the support of my family, friends, and our incredible fans. Listening to the Hungarian national anthem after the race was a moment I’ll never forget.

Gratitude

Thank you to Rita for the amazing teamwork, to our coaches for preparing us, and to everyone who supported us on this journey. This gold is a shared success — and one I’ll always be proud of.
