As a competitor of Csepel Pentathlon and Sports Club, I finished in second place at the weekend’s Viwa Open international indoor pentathlon competition, which also served as this year’s senior national championship. Finishing second behind a Chinese athlete also meant that I achieved the best result among the Hungarian competitors, so I am very happy to have won the national championship title again this year after 2024 and 2025.

As a season opener, the competition was definitely encouraging. Overall, I am satisfied with my performance—my work so far is clearly visible, but fortunately it is also evident that there is still room for improvement. As a professional athlete, continuous development is completely natural to me, as my goal is to deliver increasingly better and more consistent performances step by step.

In the fencing ranking round of the final, I started among the top 16 as the sixth seed, and after two victories I was eliminated in the semifinals. The second bout was particularly intense: against the Chinese athlete Ma Yuan, I managed to equalize in the final seconds and landed the decisive touch just four hundredths of a second before the end. This was an important moment for me, as it reinforced my confidence that I can handle critical situations under pressure.

In swimming, I delivered a stable performance. On the OCR course, I competed more conservatively at this early stage of the season, while in the combined event the results of the work I had put in were already visible. I was leading for a while, but in the end the Chinese athlete Li Liuchang was more accurate in the final shooting, so I finished in second place.

The Hungarian field was extremely strong, which adds even more value to my result. With Csaba Bőhm, Balázs Szép, András Gáll, and Zsombor Tárkányi consistently performing at a high level, it creates a strong competitive environment for all of us—we push each other forward, which benefits everyone. In the long run, this can become one of our greatest strengths. Although the season has just begun, the main goal this year is the World Championships, where I aim to compete for a podium finish.

I would like to thank my family, my coaches, the Hungarian Modern Pentathlon Association, Csepel Pentathlon, and my sponsors for their support and trust. We will continue the work together.
